Contestant Information


Requirements for Contestants:

  1. Contestants must be a resident of North Carolina.

  2. Contestants must be at least 21 years of age.

  3. This contest is open to any gender, sexual orientation, and any lifestyle orientation.

  4. Each contestant must agree to abide by the expectations of titleholders listed below, should he/she win.

  5. Each contestant must provide at least one item to be raffled off during the contest to help raise money to cover titleholder expenses throughout the title year.

  6. Contestants must read and sign the contestant application prior to the start of the contest.

  7. Contestants will receive free admittance to the contest event and afterglow party.

Expectations of Titleholders:

  1. The Mr./Ms. North Carolina Leather titleholder will be expected to be a visible member of the North Carolina Leather community throughout his/her title year. The titleholder will be expected to attend a minimum of 10 Leather/BDSM/Fetish events or club meetings within the state and region to support these groups through education, assistance with fundraising, and/or the sharing of ideas and experiences. The 2010 titleholder will be expected to attend and compete at Southeast Leather Fest.

  2. The Mr./Ms. North Carolina Leather titleholder should be willing to speak to all segments of the North Carolina Leather/BDSM/Fetish community.

  3. The Mr./Ms. North Carolina Leather titleholder is expected to maintain contact with the contest producer(s) throughout the title year to keep them informed of titleholder activities. The titleholder will have the full support of the contest producer(s) throughout the title year.

  4. The Mr./Ms. North Carolina Leather titleholder will be expected to assist with contest publicity as well as the publicity for any events associated with the NC Leather Contest throughout the year.

  5. The Mr./Ms. North Carolina Leather titleholder should understand that it will take time and money to accomplish the goals he/she sets for the year and may need to raise money or pay out of pocket to cover some of those expenses. The producers, however, will work with you to reach those goals without creating a financial hardship for you.

Contest Categories:

Speech and Formal Wear: (25 points) Contestants will each be given 3 minutes to speak on a topic of their choice related to the Leather/BDSM/Fetish community. Contestants will be judged on their formal wear (what you would wear to a formal Leather event or banquet) as well as the delivery of their speech.

Interview : (25 points) Contestants will be interviewed by the judging panel prior to the evening portions of the contest. These interviews will be closed to the public. Contestants will be judged on  their ability to think on their feet, their knowledge of lifestyle related issues and history, and how they respond to the questions asked of them.

Fantasy: (25 points) Each contestant will given 7 minutes to perform a fantasy on stage. Contestants will be scored on the creativity they use in the fantasy portion and how well they engage the audience.

On Stage Question:(25 points) Each contestant will randomly select one question to answer on stage. Questions will be submitted by the judges and emcee.

Scoring System:

Each judge will give contestants a score between 1 and 25 for each category. These scores will then be averaged together to form the final score in each category. Final scores for each contestant will be averaged together and the person with the highest average will be declared the winner.

Winner's Package:

The winner of the Mr./Ms. North Carolina Leather contest will receive a resource book to help them throughout his/her title year, financial assistance in the form of a travel fund (minimum $200), and a medallion. The titleholder will also have the support and assistance of the contest producers and previous titleholders throughout his/her title year.
